LumaScope™ to be presented at American Association of Physics Teachers 2010 in Portland, Oregon, July 21, 2010

July 10, 2010 – (Carlsbad, CA) Brian Rasnow, Etaluma Co-Founder and Chief Scientist, will introduce Etaluma’s LumaScope™, an inexpensive, personal inverted fluorescence microscope, to be available for sale early this year. Rasnow will be presenting at the American Association of Physics Teachers 2010 Summer Meeting, Wednesday morning July 21st, 2010 at 9:40 a.m. in Broadway III/IV at Portland State University.

The LumaScope was developed using inexpensive webcam and USB technology and a philosophy of simplicity. Its current design reflects the requirements of use in the classroom and teaching labs. Microscopes are under-used in teaching physics because they have been expensive, bulky, and complex. LumaScope minimizes these issues, enabling its integration interdisciplinary laboratories. The design of the LumaScope and some educational applications under development will be presented.
